The spirals, circles, and eye are meant to tie into My Morning Jacket's album Circuital and the design also pays homage to Louis Sullivan, the architect of the Auditorium Theater. In 1889, Sullivan used the term “organic architecture” and he tried to convey a sense of nature, growth, and life cycles in his designs, which inspired the concept here. The lighted arch mimics the actual arch over the stage in the theatre, lit by the warm glow of incandescent bulbs.
This poster design is based on Jason’s original painting, My Morning Jacket: Eye To The Infinite (acrylic and plaster on panel, 2011, 40" x 30").
